あなたの英語学習の理由・動機は何ですか? / Why are you studying English?

A simple one but it actually has been my burning question since I wrote this entry. Why are you studying English?

It would be great if you can share your thoughts with me either as a comment on this entry (hatena) or a comment at iKnow.

Here is my stuff for your reference.

(Present) For training of interpretation between Japanese and English. To improve communication skills as a manager.

(10 yrs ago) I needed TOEFL and GRE scores to apply for grad schools in US.

(14 yrs ago) I needed to read textbooks for (Chomskyan) linguistics. Most of the books were written in English.

ちなみに、私の場合はこんな感じです。

(現在)　日英通訳のトレーニング。マネジャーとしてコミュニケーションスキルを高める。

(10年前) 大学院留学のため、TOEFL、GREのスコアが必要だった。

(14年前)　(チョムスキー系)言語学の教科書のほとんどは英語で書かれていたので泣く泣く。。。
