like a newly wed

今日は午後1時まで寝た*1後、マンションの部屋の壁の色を決めに借りた色のサンプルを持って部屋に行ってみた。昼から夕方になろうかという西向き(LaGuardia空港、Manhattan方面)の窓からは、建物の真下を通るLIRRと、数キロ離れたところを数分おきに通るLaGuardia 着陸便がとてもきれいであった。

After we woke up at 1pm, we went to see which color to paint the wall of our new apartment. From the window toward the west, we can see the wonderful view from LaGuardia airport to Manhattan; the view of the LIRR right below the building and the scenary of a few miles away where the airplanes landing to LaGuardia airport every five minutes.

姫はモデルルームなどをいろいろ見たことがあり、色のサンプルを見るだけでその色で壁を塗った部屋が想像できるらしいが、自分の貧弱な想像力では難しく、延々と2時間くらいかけてやっと、居間、寝室、洗面所、玄関の色が決まった。散歩ついでにそこそこ歩いたからか、結構疲れ、地下鉄で家に帰るとバタンキュー状態であった。

Princess used to go and see various rooms before, so she can image how the room looks like with a new color only by looking at a color sample of paint. But since my imagination is so weak, we need two hours to decide the colors for the living room, bedroom, bathroom and entrance (we are not going to paint the kitchen). We got tired after we did everything. Maybe because we walked a lot from our apartment to the new apartment (three stops away in subway). As soon as we came back home, we went to sleep.

ドアマン兼ブローカー兼リノベーション担当のカルロスによると「あんたたちと仕事をするのはぱっぱっと決めてくれるから楽だね。あの色のサンプルは家に持って帰って検討するようにって貸してあげたものなんだけど」とのことであった。

The doorman, broker, and renovator, Carlos said that we are easy to work with. He also said "You guys decided very quickly. I meant you guys took the color sample back home to discuss."

まあ、(結果はともかく)、決定の速さが我々の(自分の)売りだからね。

Well, (whether the result comes well or not), the speed of decision is our (my) marketing point.

忘れるところだった。そんなこんなが何となく、新婚さんが新居についていろいろやっているみたいであった。3年に1度くらいこんなことがあるといいのかも知れない。大変だけど。。。

I almost forgot to write this. What we have done today is like a newly wed couple discusses their new apartment. It may be a nice idea to have such things once in a while...
